The sheriff publishes a 93-bed capacity and an average daily population of 30 inmates. It also states that the facility books about 1,100 arrestees per year. The same official source says only about one-third or less of the inmate population has been convicted and is serving a sentence at the facility, so most people in custody are pretrial, pending bond, pending court, or otherwise not in final sentenced status.

These numbers point to a small jail operating well below its listed bed capacity by ADP. They do not publish a housing-unit roster, pod list, race or age table, or exact daily count. For a named person, use custody channels rather than treating population statistics as a roster.

Summit County Booking Intake

People checking in on a sentenced mittimus are different from new arrestees. S.T.A.R.R. stands for Strategies to Avoid Relapse and Recidivism. The sheriff says it provides substance-use and mental-health treatment inside the detention facility, with a law-enforcement coordinator, case manager, and licensed mental-health clinician. Group and individual therapy address substance-use patterns, anger, communication, life skills, and trauma. Reentry linkage connects released people to free or low-cost services and community supports.

Summit Work Release Trustees

Trustee and work-release status are not general benefits for all inmates. Trustee eligibility applies only to sentenced inmates. Work release is narrower: the inmate must be sentenced out of the 5th Judicial District, the sentencing judge must include work release on the mittimus, employment must be verified in Summit County, the Detention Services Commander must approve final participation, and the inmate must sign and follow the work-release contract.

Summit Facility Records Requests

Sheriff Records handles releasable criminal reports, booking photos, and traffic reports. The records page allows online requests or PDF requests submitted by email, mail, or in person. After staff determine whether release is allowed, a records technician contacts the requester with fees. Payment is required before release.

If an arrest was made in connection with an incident, the sheriff records page says the requester may need to obtain reports from the District Attorney's Office and may be referred to the courts for information the sheriff cannot provide.
